2 credit union employees charged with embezzlement

It is difficult to fathom how much money — in the form of cash and checks — goes through the hands of an employee of a federal credit union. Unfortunately for these employees, they could find themselves facing serious accusations should a mistake occur or money go missing. In fact, two former employees of a credit union in Massachusetts now face accusations of embezzlement.

The women are not believed to have worked together. The first woman, age 46, was reportedly employed at the credit starting in 2001 and ending in 2018. Investigators believe that she altered transactions related to her personal account over the course of several years, resulting in the theft of over $19,000. She allegedly told investigators that she had fallen on hard times.

The second woman, said to be 45 years old, reportedly worked at the credit union from 1995 to 2016. Law enforcement officials claim that she stole a bank check and used it to pay her credit card bill after forging another employee’s signature. The woman reportedly stated that she has no memory of the check, arguing that as an employee of the credit union she processed a significant number of checks.

Unfortunately, cases involving accusations of embezzlement such as this can be complicated. Regardless of the claims made by law enforcement officers in Massachusetts, having an experienced professional to help those facing criminal charges fully understand the implications of any information that they provide. Such a professional can help carefully examine the details of the case and create an appropriate response.
